Test information
2026 JLPT registration in Australia
Test cities, Eventbrite fees and application requirements
Where the test is offered
| City | 5 July | 6 December |
|---|---|---|
| Adelaide | Not offered | N1–N5 |
| Canberra | N1–N3 | Not offered |
| Gold Coast | N1–N5 | N1–N5 |
| Melbourne | Not offered | Cancelled |
| Perth | Not offered | N1–N5 |

The local host directory identifies the institution responsible for each city. December capacity was increased in the four operating cities after Melbourne’s cancellation. A booking in one city cannot be treated as a booking in another.
Fees and online applications
| Levels | Test fee | Booking fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| N1, N2 and N3 | A$105 | A$6.81 | A$111.81 |
| N4 and N5 | A$95 | A$6.27 | A$101.27 |
These totals include GST; a card issuer may charge an additional fee. Registration is through the Eventbrite links on the Japan Foundation, Sydney website, with online credit-card payment. Select the correct city and level before paying.
The published window uses AEST (UTC+10), including for applicants in other Australian time zones. There is no waiting list or standby registration. Paper applications are not accepted.

Photographs, vouchers and arrival
No photograph is needed for the Australian application or test voucher. Photo identification is required on test day. The local instructions at the front of the Australian guide take precedence over the generic international form later in the same PDF.
The voucher is emailed as a PDF approximately a month before the test. Print it: showing it on a phone is not accepted. The name on the voucher must match the photo ID. The Japan Foundation asks candidates to wait until 13 November before reporting a missing voucher.
Check-in times vary by city and appear on the voucher. The Eventbrite event time is only approximate. Use the local entry deadline when arranging travel; the test sections for different levels are not all the same length.
Special testing accommodations
An accommodation that needs a separate room uses a separate application link. Do not make a normal Eventbrite booking for that route. The supporting STA paperwork is due by 10 September at 5 pm AEST. Room availability is limited.
The next Australian application window
Australia has July and December sittings, but the city table shows why that does not mean two opportunities in every city or at every level. The Japan Foundation normally posts July registration information around early February. Its notices checked on 12 October 2026 did not confirm a 2027 application window.
